ROOFING ALLIANCE UPDATE – OCTOBER 2020
The strength of a building lies in its foundation, which holds it upright and provides the structural integrity needed. Building a firm foundation does not happen overnight. It takes time, energy and hard work. It is the same with the Roofing Alliance, which offers a firm foundation working to shape the future of our industry. The four pillars of our foundation lead us to develop programs and projects that address current and future workplace issues; assume a leadership role to engage all industry segments to embrace innovation and use technology; advocate environmentally sustainable design; and work to enrich the well-being of our communities.

Call for Funding — DEADLINE IS JAN. 1, 2021

As Roofing Alliance members, we are committed to securing the future strength and excellence of the roofing industry. Therefore, every year, the Roofing Alliance funds critical research, education and technical projects to help preserve a profitable and competitive industry. Since its inception in 1996, the Roofing Alliance has funded more than $5.6 million in projects. It is vital for the roofing industry to be on the cutting edge of research and technology. The Roofing Alliance looks to fund projects that help reinforce this idea—ultimately, projects that enhance the performance of the U.S. roofing industry.

Projects submitted for consideration should:

  • Be generic in the sense they will not evaluate any proprietary products, services or materials
  • Not publicly advocate an industry position
  • Be broad-based, having value for all segments of the industry whenever possible
Specific criteria provide a project must:

  • Be seen to have a significant effect on the U.S. roofing industry
  • Have value for all segments of the industry if practical
  • Contribute to the improvement of the industry
  • Be a project that is best conducted by the Roofing Alliance, meaning it is beyond the scope or otherwise inappropriate for NRCA or another industry organization
Our Project Review committee will receive and review the requests; analyze the requests; and ask questions or request additional information, if needed, for them to recommend whether the requests should move forward to the Board of Trustees and full membership at the April 2021 meeting.

You can help by sharing this information with any organizations or committees you are involved with that have projects appropriate for our consideration. The funding criteria is available on the Roofing Alliance website by clicking here.
