ROOFING ALLIANCE UPDATE – NOVEMBER-DECEMBER 2019

We are excited to begin our update by welcoming the newest Roofing Alliance member, Tom Furey, North American Roofers Insurance IC (NARI), Burlington, Vt., as a service provider member. Founded in 2007, NARI is a national risk management and insurance program for commercial roofers owned and controlled by its participating members. NARI's value proposition to its members is a level of ownership, transparency, accountability and control of insurance and risk management resources not available anywhere else in the marketplace. NARI delivers on this value proposition for members through a captive insurance company to implement risk-taking strategies and facilitate the return of underwriting profits and investment income to its members. Through the economies of scale attained via the captive, NARI is able to develop and provide industry-leading loss-prevention and cost containment resources otherwise unattainable for its members. The blend of risk financing and risk management strategies helps NARI's members become better operators.

We also just received news from long-standing member, Rob McNamara, that he and his wife Kate, are making a personal contribution of $50,000 to the Roofing Alliance general fund! Rob has been active in the Roofing Alliance since his father, Donald McNamara, F.J.A. Christiansen Roofing Co. Inc., Milwaukee joined the Roofing Alliance in 1996. As important as it is to continue to grow the Roofing Alliance, it’s equally important to have the support of our existing members through additional financial contributions and member engagement. Rob, Kate, we thank you for your continued support!

There has been a whirlwind of activity since the October update, including the Gold Circle Awards and Most Valuable Player Awards judges meeting to select this year's winners; being in the process of sending out our last batch of "thank you" plaques to our Ronald McDonald House Charities® partners; Arizona State University putting the finishing touches on A Study of the U.S. Roofing Industry and Its Workforce; student competition teams submitting their written proposals; our 2018-19 Annual Report becoming available; continuing our daily social media posts, website updates and media outreach; and holding a Joint Roofing Alliance Board of Trustees and full member meeting in Chicago. There is a real buzz about the Roofing Alliance that we have not seen before—it's an exciting time!

As the calendar year ends, we reflect on the events that have taken place this year. There have been numerous challenges, from forces of nature we cannot control to random acts of violence we cannot understand. But in the midst of this, we lock arms and remain united, making a difference in our industry and communities.

We are a collective forum of roofing contractors, manufacturers, suppliers and industry professionals united to select and provide oversight of programs and funding for progressive research that contribute to the ongoing advancement of the roofing industry. We also believe in and support philanthropic efforts. Your compassion and generosity extend beyond the roofing industry into our individual communities and neighborhoods.

Feel free to contact us with your comments, questions or any prospective members you would like our membership development team to approach. Happy Holidays to you, your families and your employees!
