ROOFING ALLIANCE UPDATE – AUGUST 2019

 Being the group of professionals that you are and considering the generous hearts that you have, we’d like to encourage you to share your stories of accolades and philanthropic efforts. We know your goal is not necessarily to shine the spotlight on your company or your employees, but it’s important to share in one another's experiences, successes and recognitions. Shell Roofing Solutions Group, Chino, Calif.—Rudy Gutierrez shares Shell Roofing Solutions Group has been named company of the year by the California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. The CHCC is a statewide network of more than 75 local Hispanic chambers and trade associations, creating the largest and premier ethnic business organization in the U.S. and representing the interest of more than 815,000 Hispanic businesses in California. For 40 years, the CHCC has worked to bring California’s Hispanic-owned businesses to the forefront of California and national economic agendas. The Shell Roofing Solutions Group team is pleased to be recognized along with some of the leading companies in California. It is a great honor for the Gutierrez family.

 Upstate Roofing & Painting Inc., Rochester, N.Y.—Bob Morgan shared that local Ronald McDonald House executives met with the Upstate Roofing & Painting team to thank them for all the work they donated in 2018. After they left, Morgan issued a challenge to his staff—office and field—to donate to the cause. To spice up the challenge, he personally agreed to match every dollar they donated. In just four days, the Upstate team donated $6,636 of their hard-earned money to their local Ronald McDonald House—matching funds brought the total to $13,272. The story doesn't end there! The Upstate Roofing & Painting team anted up additional contributions of $9,866, bringing the grand total to $23,138! To honor and thank the team, the local Ronald McDonald House named a room after them!

We have a lot of positive energy within the Roofing Alliance right now—our members are busy connecting with their local Ronald McDonald Houses; we are making a difference in the lives of students beginning their academic journeys; the Arizona State University research team is working to collect demographic information about the industry and the workforce; Clemson University is developing roofing-specific course materials to be offered in January 2020; we are preparing student competition materials to be sent by the end of August; and the word is getting out through media contacts and social media posts. None of this would be possible without your passion for the industry and continued support and involvement!
