Mississippi State Virtual Reality Technology Task Force—Task force members held another virtual meeting in July to continue discussions with Mississippi State faculty regarding the funding request approved for “Evaluating the Efficacy of the Virtual Reality Technology for Improving the Roofing Construction Worker’s Safety Perception.” Dr. Saeed Rokooei and Dr. Ali Shojaei presented a storyboard scenario of a virtual reality module. After viewing the presentation, asking questions and sharing different perspectives, the task force felt comfortable recommending the project move forward and believes the final product will benefit the roofing industry. And the Task Force feels it’s a great example of the Roofing Alliance funding innovative ways to help shape the future of our industry.
We are looking for a few additional members to serve on the task force who are willing to share their technical, risk management and safety expertise. The task force will provide input before and after each scene is developed. The review of each scene should be brief but will be ongoing. There will be weekly or biweekly reviews that can be done remotely. The target start date for the project is Sept. 1. If you or your staff with technical, risk management or safety expertise are willing to serve on this task force, please let Bennett know.
The Branding Committee also met virtually in July. One topic of discussion was about emphasizing the four pillars—core values—of our foundation in our promotional outreach efforts, the four pillars being education and training; technology; sustainability; and philanthropy. Our philanthropic outreach will continue, but we would also like to emphasize a new area of focus—telling our story about the different ways we are impacting education and training. Committee members also agreed to connect with each Roofing Alliance committee and task force to learn about support they need, materials and resources that would be helpful, etc. And a 25th Anniversary Subcommittee was formed to begin planning for the Roofing Alliance’s 25th Anniversary, which begins January 2021. Thank you to Dave Lawlor for agreeing to serve as chair. So, stay tuned for more from the Branding Committee!
