The Roofing Alliance, the Foundation of the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA), is committed to the roofing industry and provides support through funding and promoting a myriad of roofing initiatives and programs. If you are an active member of the Roofing Alliance, you probably are already aware that the annual call for funding requests  is open. To be considered for funding, the deadline for written requests must be submitted by January 1, 2020. 1) Fixing the Labor Gap Problem

Despite an excellent employment rate across the country, a vast number of roofing companies are dealing with a skilled labor shortage issue. With limited training opportunities for young workers and with many millennials preferring other industries for employment opportunities, the Roofing Alliance is committed to combating these issues by recruiting, educating, training, and mentoring the next generation of roofing professionals. Here are some ways the Roofing Alliance is effectively doing this:

  • Roofing Industry Scholarships: With programs like the Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship, members can either support a great cause or create their own personal legacy by donating to the Roofing Alliance.
  • Construction Management Partnership: The Roofing Alliance engages with construction management schools across the country by hosting a national student design competition, providing scholarship opportunities to outstanding students and faculty and by introducing students to lucrative career opportunities in roofing.
  • ProCertification™ Series: The Roofing Alliance has provided funding for a variety of training programs and initiatives that offer young roofing professionals the opportunity to advance their careers in roofing. For example, the Roofing Alliance provided funding to help develop NRCA’s ProCertification™ Series, a national certification program offering opportunities for professionals to seek “microcredentials” in roofing.
