June 2019 member update

Remarks from President Kelly:

What an exciting year we concluded under the leadership of Rod Petrick! I would like to encourage you to keep those seat belts fastened because the ride is not over yet! There’s a lot in store as we continue with our communications outreach; gear up for our sixth Construction Management Student Competition; embark on career technical education opportunities with SkillsUSA and the National Center for Construction Education and Research; learn the results of the Moisture in Concrete Roof Decks Study, Arizona State University Study of the U.S. Roofing Industry and Its Workforce, and Clemson University’s roofing-specific college-level curriculum currently being developed; seek new funding initiatives that align with our mission and core values; and continue to grow our relationship with Ronald McDonald House Charities© and support all 165 Ronald McDonald houses in the U.S. we’ve connected with!

ROOFING ALLIANCE – RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES© PARTNERSHIP
Thank you for stepping up to the challenge!

2019-20 BOARD OF TRUSTEES
As we begin our new year, we would like to welcome our 2019-20 Board of Trustees whose term began June 1.

COMMITTEES AND TASK FORCES AT WORK
Several of our committees and task forces have been busy.

A STUDY OF THE U.S. ROOFING INDUSTRY AND ITS WORKFORCE
We are still looking for participants to take the workforce survey to capture workforce demographics to help with programs that will attract the next generation of the roofing workforce.

GIVING DAY
On Friday, June 7, NRCA held its inaugural Giving Day to benefit the Roofing Alliance’s Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship Program—a program recognizing one of the industry’s greatest leaders, Melvin Kruger, of L.E. Schwartz & Son Inc., Macon, Ga., a former NRCA president and a principal fundraiser at the time the Roofing Alliance was established.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS
We just locked in the April 23-25, 2020, member meeting at The Ritz-Carlton, 1111 Ritz-Carlton Drive, Sarasota, Fla.

Help us get the word out! We need to increase our followers, and the best way to do that is through our members! Like us and share our posts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn, and please encourage other contractors and customers to like us and share our posts, as well.

As you can see, there is a lot in store for this coming year, and we want to thank you in advance for your involvement. There are numerous ways you can be engaged—let either one of us or Bennett Judson know which areas interest you! It’s your active participation that strengthens the Roofing Alliance and ultimately affects the roofing industry!
