Construction Management Schools Initiative

We received a letter of appreciation from R. Raymond Issa, professor and interim director at the University of Florida, Gainesville, on behalf of the M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of Construction Management for the “generosity and continued support of the Rinker School’s Scholarship Program”; seven students from the school were awarded the Roofing Alliance Scholarship for the 2018-19 academic school year. We also received a letter of thanks from Richard Davenport, president of Minnesota State University, Mankato, for the $5,000 L.B. Conway Scholarship awarded to the school after its team took first place in this year’s Construction Management Student Competition. Davenport says, “We are grateful for the opportunity that the construction management students had to participate in the 2019 Roofing Alliance Construction Management Student Competition. Our tagline is ‘Big ideas. Real-world Thinking.’ Your competition is a prime example of this, and you gave our students an opportunity to create big ideas and use real-world thinking. Thank you for providing this opportunity for our students and students all over the country.”

Plans are underway for the Roofing Alliance’s sixth Construction Management Student Competition. Thanks to Keith Post and Steve Little with KPost Company, Dallas, we already have identified a project. The Construction Management Schools Initiative Committee will meet in July to finalize competition details.

As our competition continues to grow, so does the need for member involvement. If you are interested in serving on the committee, as judges or as team mentors, please let one of us or Bennett Judson know.
