Call for Funding

We are three months out until funding proposals are due Jan. 1, 2020. We want to make sure everyone understands the criteria, guidelines and format for submitting requests for Roofing Alliance funding consideration.

As Roofing Alliance members, we are committed to securing the future strength and excellence of the roofing industry. Therefore, every year, the Roofing Alliance funds critical research, education and technical projects to help preserve a profitable and competitive industry. Since its inception in 1996, the Roofing Alliance has funded more than $5.6 million in projects. It is vital for the roofing industry to be on the cutting edge of research and technology so roofing work continues to grow for roofing contractors, suppliers and manufacturers. The Roofing Alliance looks to fund projects that help reinforce this idea. Ultimately, we look for projects that enhance the performance of the U.S. roofing industry.

Projects submitted for consideration should:

  • Be generic in the sense they will not evaluate any proprietary products, services or materials.
  • Not publicly advocate an industry position. This is seen as a role best left to NRCA and other industry organizations.
  • Be broad-based, having value for all segments of the industry whenever possible.

Specific criteria provide:

  • A project must be seen to have a significant effect on the U.S. roofing industry.
  • A project must have value for all segments of the industry, if practical.
  • A project must contribute to the improvement of the industry.
  • A project should be one that is best conducted by the Roofing Alliance, meaning it is beyond the scope or otherwise inappropriate for NRCA or another industry organization.

Our Project Review Committee receives the requests initially. The committee will review, analyze and ask questions or request additional information, if needed, to recommend whether the requests move forward to the Board of Trustees and full membership at the April 2020 meeting. Help us get the word out! The deadline for requests is Jan. 1, 2020. Click here for complete funding request criteria.
